All this sunny weather has got us in the holiday mood and we’re planning a summer of fun. Whether you’re beach going sun-worshippers, trendy festival goers or just enjoy a dose of fresh air, we have plenty of Staycation inspiration for you, as well as all the gear you’ll need to make your trip a success.
Pack up the car and go on tour. Our Nicholas Winter range of bags are perfect for a stylish weekend away. We have a selection of different sizes to suit every sort of trip!
If you’re staying in the UK why not explore some of the historical wonders of this beautiful country? The National Trust has thousands of acres of stunning and culturally rich locations all over England and Wales. They have lots of inspiration on their website for country walks, calm places to pause, family friendly days out, summer gardens and more. Most importantly, most locations are very well stocked with tea and cake! Although, if you’re not out to learn about the history, there’s guaranteed to be a beautiful picnic spot around the corner.
Make sure you set off with plenty of supplies to keep you fuelled up. Our picnic bags are a must. Fully stocked with all the picnic supplies you might need (even a blanket!), and you can carry them on your back. Pick a spot and eat your sandwiches in style! Read more about these on our ‘Life’s a picnic’ blog here.
Al fresco beats
We love a festival; they’re so much more than just music, with incredible food it’s the perfect way to spend a summer weekend. You need to book your tickets months in advance for the big names, but there are plenty of smaller events around the country which still have availability if you fancy a last-minute adventure. If you have a family, that’s no reason to miss out - many of them are geared up for smaller guests too. We love the look of ValleyFest in Cornwall, a family friendly festival beside a glittering lake in Chew Magna . We’ve found a great list of smaller festivals around the UK, all looking very tempting.
Working out what to take to a festival can feel daunting. Our first tip is to keep it simple. Bring your tent, sleeping bags, inflatable mattress and a torch. There are always plenty of food stalls, so you won’t need your camping stove or any high-tech equipment. This isn’t going to be a weekend when you’ll be spending much time in your tent, so get rid of the extras. We do have a couple of essentials however.
- Our beautiful Turkish Hammam Towels have the advantage of folding up nice and small, drying very quickly and also looking incredibly stylish. We think they’re just the thing for your festival trip. The rest of the time they double up as a lightweight picnic rug on which to sit back, listen to music and enjoy a cheeky beer!
- There’s a lot of walking around and standing at a festival. Take the weight off your feet with a folding chair! Place them at the entrance of your tent for that final sundowner.
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside
If you’re planning a staycation in the UK and want to feel the sand between your toes but want to avoid the beaches that are so packed there’s no room for your towel, check out this list of ‘secret’ beaches around the country. What could be more wonderful than a dip in the crystal waters on a sunny day? Or, let’s be realistic, slightly grey day? Our Turkish Hammam Towels are just the thing for a trip to the beach - ideal for lounging upon, drying with and using as a stylish clothing accessory.
