Yes, it is best to trim the wick each time prior to burning your candle.

The recommended height is around 5mm, this helps to create an even burn and should reduce any soot.

When you first light your candle, it is best to let the wax pool evenly around the edge of the vessel. This will help ensure an even burn and ensure you get maximum fragrance from each burn.
You should refrain from burning your candle for more than two hours at a time.

Store your candle in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight when it is not in use.

Remove the residue wax by submerging the vessel in warm water. The wax should soften and lift away from the vessel.

You can then use the vessel for multiple purposes around your home including storing pens and pencils, loose change or use it as a planter for a small cactus or succulent.
