Easy Halloween Recipes for the Spookiest Party

1. Halloween Jelly

If you want to create a great Halloween centrepiece for your table, this is a great Halloween recipe to send shivers down guests’ spines! Add a chalkboard and stand next to it to spread spooky messages all night long!

Servings: 4
Total time: 5 minutes prep, minimum 2 hour to set

Ingredients for Halloween jelly: 

  • 1 pack of jelly

  • 225ml boiled water

  • 225ml cold water

  • Gummy worms & any other spooky sweets!

How to make Halloween jelly – the method:

  1. Prepare your jelly according to the package instructions

  2. Place some jelly sweets in your bowl (use a clear bowl so you can maximise the effect!)

  3. Pour in half of the jelly

  4. Leave to set for an hour (in the fridge)

  5. Add more jelly sweets and the rest of the jelly mixture; hang some worms over the side for a great effect

  6. Leave to set in the fridge for a minimum of one hour

Top tip: the more sweets you add & hang over the edge the more gruesome the Halloween recipe looks! 

2. Ghost Strawberries

Halloween is always about the sugar for children - which we all know makes bed time like something out of a horror movie - but you can ensure they get a little nutrients too with this Halloween recipe! 

Servings: makes 30 ghosts
Total time: 30 minutes

Ingredients for ghost strawberries:

  • 30 strawberries

  • 230g white chocolate

  • A bag of mini chocolate chips

  • ⅛ tsp almond extract

How to make ghost strawberries – the method:

  1. Wash your strawberries and gently pat them until dry

  2. Melt your white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl

  3. Lay some greaseproof paper across a tray/plate

  4. Dip your strawberries into the chocolate and then lay on your greaseproof paper

  5. Immediately press in your chocolate chip eyes and mouths (so they set)

  6. Freeze them for 5 minutes and then refrigerate until ready to serve!

3. Grasshopper Cocktail

Total time: 5 minutes

Ingredients for the grasshopper cocktail: 

  • 25ml crème de menthe

  • 25ml crème de cacao

  • Ice

  • 25ml single cream

  • Mint leaf

  • Melted chocolate (optional)

How to make the grasshopper cocktail – the method:

  1. Dip the stalk of your mint leaf into the melted chocolate to cover it and then leave it on a plate to set

  2. Pour the ice, cream and both liqueurs into your cocktail shaker and shake it hard (until the outside is cold)

  3. Strain into your cocktail glass and garnish with your chocolate dipped mint leaves

Top tip: To create an extra Halloween-y touch to this Halloween recipe, add a metallic black serving tray and fill it with spooky Halloween props and cobwebs!

 4. Monster Burger

Halloween is all fun and sugar rushes, but you’ve got to eat something substantial too - whether counteracting the sugar rush or those never-ending cocktails. This is a super easy but super effective Halloween recipe we love!

Servings: 4
Total time: 25 minutes

Ingredients for the monster burger: 

  • 4 beef burgers

  • 4 slices of cheddar 

  • 4 burger buns

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 4 lettuce leaves

  • 4 gherkins

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 8 olives

How to make the monster burger – the method:

  1. Cook the burgers as guided on your packet

  2. Spread the mayonnaise on every half of the bun

  3. On the bottom halves, place a slice of lettuce and then the burger patty

  4. Place a gherkin slice over the edge of your patty so it resembles a tongue

  5. Cut a jagged, teeth-looking edge to your slice of cheese and add it on top

  6. Add some ketchup on top

  7. Place the top half of the bun on - at a slight angle so you can see the monster’s face!

  8. Skewer the olives on cocktail sticks in the top of the bun to make the eyes (remove when eating).

5. Halloween Hot Chocolate

Now you’ve tried plenty of Halloween recipes and the evening is ticking on, it’s definitely time to cosy up with a spooky movie, and what better to comfort you than a Halloween hot chocolate! 

Servings: 2
Total time: 3 minutes

Ingredients for the Halloween hot chocolate: 

  • 2 tbsp cocoa / hot chocolate powder

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 60ml water

  • 250ml milk

  • ¼ tsp vanilla

  • Mini marshmallows

  • Black food colouring pens / edible markers

  • Whipped cream (optional) 

How to make the Halloween hot chocolate – the method:

  1. Draw faces on the top of your marshmallows - however scary you wish!

  2. Mix the water, sugar, and cocoa powder in a microwave safe bowl or mug and heat for approx. 40 seconds, or until warm

  3. Ensure it’s all mixed together

  4. Stir in the vanilla and milk 

  5. Top with your scary marshmallow faces, and whipped cream!
